Special counselling camp for obesity and related diseases held at PSG Hospital

Coimbatore: A medical consultation camp on Obesity was organised on behalf of the Department of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at PSG Hospital, Coimbatore, on Sunday. 

In today's changing world, obesity is a major problem faced from children to adult. As obesity is proved to be predominantly due to improper lifestyle and eating habits. In a bid to clarify and guide those affected with Obesity and related diseases, a special consultation camp was held on behalf of the Department of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at the PSG Hospital, Coimbatore.

The counselling camp was led by a team of experts who guided the people and classified them based on their body type index and were instructed accordingly. More than 60 participants in the camp were advised that obesity is associated with an increased risk of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and liver disease.

The consultation was conducted by experts in the field, Dr Balamurugan and Dr Parimala Devi Kumaraswamy.
